Markaz Oriental Arabic College is an institution that began its academic journey in the 200-2005 academic year under the Ottappalam Markazul Isha’athil Islamiyya Trust. It is a University of Calicut affiliated Arabic college functioning under the guidance of the traditional Sunni scholars in Palakkad district. With the Sanctity of the Sacred Verses

Ottappalam Markaz’s first major initiative began with this noble endeavor. The institution was established in the esteemed presence of renowned scholars such as Kaipamangalam Abdul Kareem Haji, Kundoor Abdul Khadir Musliyar, and Mathur Noor Muhammad Usthad. Since its inception, the institution has been progressing steadily by nurturing skilled Hafiz who have memorized the Holy Qur’an and excel in its recitation. The presence of well-trained teachers and excellent facilities for Qur’anic studies distinguishes this institution from others. Combining traditional Hifz education and training with the support of modern technologies forms its core strength. Students from various districts across Kerala pursue their studies here. To date, more than 300 students have successfully completed the memorization of the Holy Qur’an and graduated as qualified Hafiz.

Masjidul Isha’a serves as a spiritual center for Markaz students, visitors, and the local community, providing a serene space for worship and religious observances. Spiritual gatherings, prayer assemblies, and devotional programs offer comfort and inspiration to all those who love and support the Markaz. Through its continuous involvement in social welfare initiatives in Ottappalam, this Da’wah centre has grown into one of the region’s prominent cultural and spiritual landmarks, contributing meaningfully to the social fabric of the locality.

A New Pathway to Women’s Empowerment

Academy of Women’s studies and Islamic Sciences (AWIS) provides Hadiya programme to young women along with higher secondary studies.

Hadiya is a specially designed curriculum for women, who completed their class 10th, with Islamic and secular sciences. Aiming to mould a steadfast women community with thorough understanding of Islamic knowledge and tradition, the programme includes core Islamic subjects such sharia, theology, Qur’anic exegesis (Tafseer), and Islamic Ideology along with some important skill-developing, necessary to serve their family with excellence expertise. The students enjoy the opportunity to pursue their higher secondary studies of their choice. In addition to imparting sacred and profound knowledge, the curriculum, and the environment within which it is taught have been set up to produce a band of female scholars, their life marked by tradition, culture, spirituality, humanity and responsibility. Presently, as many as 1000 girls have been enrolled in Hadiya programme under 40 accredited institutes across the country.

Character Formation Through Religious Education

This madrasa functions with the objective of providing religious education and character development for children in Ottappalam and its surrounding areas, following the syllabus prescribed by the Sunni Education Board. In addition to textbook learning, students receive practical training and guidance in religious practices under the supervision of qualified and experienced teachers.

Compassion in Action

Santhwana Kendram is a permanent charitable initiative dedicated to identifying the underprivileged and the ailing, and providing them with compassionate care and medical assistance. Through systematic surveys conducted in rural areas, the centre ensures that deserving patients receive timely treatment and essential support. In addition to direct care, Santhwana Kendram actively engages in a range of humanitarian activities, including medical camps, free distribution of medicines, wheelchair distribution, and other welfare services aimed at improving the quality of life of those in need.
